Aston Martin Unveil AMR26

Aston Martin have unveiled the AMR26 race car which will compete in the 2026 Formula One season.

The AMR26 race car is the first Aston Martin F1 race car to be designed by ex Red Bull Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey, who had moved to the team in early 2025 ahead of new technical regulations being introduced this season, with the team having recruited as their new power unit supplier.

This season also marks Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll’s fourth season together as teammates, with Alonso having joined in 2023 whilst Stroll was part of the team since its return to F1 in 2021 in a commercial rebrand from the former team name – Racing Point.

Aston Martin however has retained its traditional British Green livery of the AMR25 car but with the addition of the British flag faintly applied on the tip of the front nose in the only notable non sponsor-related tweak.

Newey also will step up as Team Principal as part of a technical shakeup on the pit wall and the Brit believes that the new season marks “a rare moment” for F1 with chassis and power unit regulations having changed simultaneously, which means that evolution will be high.

“With brand new regulations, the best philosophy is never immediately obvious, and your understanding evolves as the car develops. With the AMR26 we’ve taken a holistic approach: it’s not about one standout component, but how the full package works together.

“The focus has been on strong fundamentals, development potential, and a car that Lance and Fernando can hopefully extract performance from consistently.”

Aston Martin’s Executive Chairman, Lawrence Stroll described the AMR26 as “a defining step” for the team and believes that the team has a clear aim for the new era of F1.

“These regulations mark the biggest reset the sport has seen in a generation, and we are approaching it with clear ambition: to build a team capable of winning. Every move we make is by design – considered, deliberate and built for where we are going.

“This year also marks our first season as a full works team, supported by world-class partners including Honda, Aramco and Valvoline.

With the AMR Technology Campus now complete, we have the people, facilities and long-term investment in place to compete with the very best. Today is another important milestone on that journey.”
