Norwich City have signed midfielder, Paris Maghoma from Brentford for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Maghoma’s move has brought his six-year stint at Brentford to an end in which he made just ten senior appearances, amidst loan stints with AFC Wimbledon, MK Dons and Bolton where he managed 10 goals in 94 combined appearances across his three loan clubs.

Upon joining the Canaries, Maghoma told canaries.co.uk that he can’t wait to start playing under Philippe Clement and help the club achieve promotion to the Premier League, although Norwich’s immediate priority is securing Championship survival by the end of the season.

“It’s a massive club that has got a lot of ambitions to get back where they definitely belong. I’m grateful for the opportunity of just being here and getting going.

“I’ve had great conversations with a lot of people, great conversations with the gaffer, the style of football and everything about it is exactly where I envisage myself being.”

Norwich’s Sporting Director, Ben Knapper added: “Paris has always been a huge talent with a really interesting profile and we’re delighted to welcome him to Norwich City.

“He is a player we’ve followed for a long time and he already has plenty of experience at EFL level, as well as in the Premier League. He’s eager to get going with a new project and he showed a big desire to get this move over the line.

“We believe he has the quality, potential and personality to be a big asset here, and we’re all looking forward to seeing him help us move towards our goals and objectives.”

Brentford’s Head Coach, Keith Andrews explained to brentfordfc.com that Maghoma’s move is down to his need for regular game time at this stage of his career.

“There’s no doubting Paris’s ability.

“He’s a very talented young player who has probably been frustrated with a lack of game time and is at an age now where he really needs to go and play football.

“His talent should allow him to have a really good career, so we wish Paris really well at a very good club.”

Maghoma has signed a three-and-a-half year contract at Norwich until June 2029 with an option for a further year, and will wear shirt number 25.

He could make his club debut away at Middlesbrough on Saturday 31 January at 3pm GMT.
