2025-26 Premier League: Week 23 – Man City vs Wolves

Manchester City look to reignite their Premier League title bid against rock-bottom Wolves.

Victory see Man City stay second and move to within four points of league leaders, Arsenal.

Wolves will remain rock bottom regardless of the result.

Team News

Marc Guehi could make his debut for Man City after he was ineligible to feature in their 3-1 Champions League loss at Bodo/Glimt.

Antoine Semenyo was too ineligible for that trip but is available for this game, whilst Matheus Nunes too could return after illness forced him to sit that game out.

Oscar Bobb, Ruben Dias (both hamstring), Josko Gvardiol (leg), John Stones (thigh), Nicolas Gonzalez (knock), Mateo Kovacic (foot) and Savinho (calf) remain sidelined.

Wolves will welcome Tawanda Chirewa back after he missed their goalless league draw against Newcastle due to illness.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Toti Gomes both remain ruled out with hamstring injuries.

When is Kick-Off?

Man City host Wolves at Etihad Stadium on Saturday 24 January at 3pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Coming into this game off the back of two consecutive lacklustre defeats in all competitions, Man City will be glad that this is a winnable game to get back to winning ways given their form against Wolves but they must bring more spark and creativity to their attacking play.

Wolves meanwhile seemed more settled defensively in recent weeks because they executed a well-organised resilient defensive game plan to hold a dominant Newcastle, but this is a huge test for them to try and get anything from this game.

My instinct though is that this should be a routine home result for City.

Prediction: Man City 2-0 Wolves

Result: Man City 2-0 Wolves
