Oliver Glasner has announced that he will depart Crystal Palace at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Glasner replaced Roy Hodgson as manager in February 2024 and achieved a tenth-placed Premier League finish at the conclusion of that season, before he led the Eagles to their maiden FA Cup title at the end of his first full campaign in charge at the end of last season.

He subsequently oversaw their FA Community Shield success and maiden UEFA Conference League campaign, where they’re set to play Zrinjski Mostar on 19 and 26 February in the Knockout Play-Offs, with the winner of that tie facing Mainz 05 or AEK Larnaca in the Round of 16.

The Austrian announced his decision at his press conference ahead of Palace’s league trip to Sunderland tomorrow (17 January), as he explained that he and Palace chairman, Steve Parish had reached the decision in October to part company at the end of the season

“Zero impact because my decision has already been taken months ago. I had a meeting with Steve in October international break over dinner.

“Very long talk and I told him I would not sign a new contract with Crystal Palace. We agreed at the time it was best to keep it between us. I told the team today the same. I think it is important to have clarity.”

Glasner proceeded to clarify a fresh challenge is behind his departure and slammed rumours linking him to other clubs as he iterated that he is committed purely to Palace until the end of the season, with his future destination not considered up for discussion until he has left the club.

“I told Steve and I am looking for a new challenge. That is my feeling after everything. I told him in October.

“It is nothing to do with transfer window. All these rumours, I hate when something is written or talked that is not true – it was very tough for me not to respond.

“I have not talked to any other club. I have no interest. I told the players I would give my best ever season in Crystal Palace history.”
