Besart Topalloj has rejoined National League’s Sutton United following his exit from Bromley on a free transfer.

Topallaj had spent the first half of this season on loan at Sutton’s fifth-tier rivals, Hartlepool United from Bromley, but he was recalled by the Ravens on 2 January and immediately released from his contract, having scored three goals in 74 appearances in three years at Hayes Lane.

He was also part of Bromley’s squad which was promoted from National League to League Two at end of 2023-24 season via the play-offs.

The 23-year-old subsequently has since signed for Sutton on a free transfer, having spent last season on loan with the club but will now wear number 39 after the number 33 shirt had been taken by Mehmet Halim.

Speaking to suttonunited.net about his return, Topalloj spoke of his joy to be back at the club as they continue to fight to avoid relegation, but Sutton currently sit in the last relegation spot in 21st position on goal difference, in contrast to finishing eight points off a play-off spot last season.

“It feels nice to be back home, two or three days ago I got the call that I could come in and it was a no brainer for me.

“Last season was good – I still think we could have made play-offs – but overall I enjoyed it here.”
