Hull City host Middlesbrough in a huge Sky Bet Championship clash at the MKM Stadium.
Victory would lift Hull up to third until Saturday afternoon, whilst Middlesbrough will stay second with a win
A draw however would be enough for Boro to retain their position due to their superior goal difference over third-placed Millwall, with the Lions currently sat two points behind the Teessiders.
Team News
Charlie Hughes could return for Hull after he missed their 2-1 comeback victory at Stoke due to a hamstring injury.
Oli McBurnie (calf) and Liam Millar (hamstring) could also return but Cody Drameh (glute) and Kasey Palmer (knee) remain sidelined.
Middlesbrough will again be without Luke Ayling after he missed their 2-1 victory over Derby
George Edmundson (hip) and Dael Fry (calf) are back in training but only Edmundson could make the matchday squad.
Luke Ayling (unspecified), Aidan Morris (knock), Abdoulaye Kante (hernia/groin) and Darragh Lenihan (Achilles) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Hull host Middlesbrough at MKM Stadium on Friday 5 December at 8pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Hull have claimed just four points in their last six meetings against Middlesbrough (W1, D1, L4).
- Middlesbrough have lost two of their last five visits to Hull (W2, D1, L2).
- Boro have kept just one clean sheet in their last six meetings against Hull, which came in a 1-0 win in January 2025.
- Hull have lost one of their last seven home matches (W4, D2, L1).
- Boro have conceded first in six of their last seven away matches (W1, D4, L2), except for a 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday in October.
Prediction
With two wins in their last five and no clean sheet in those five games, Hull now need to start finding more consistency because we know that they’re capable of more wins if can tighten up defensively so this is a huge test for them.
Middlesbrough meanwhile have their own defensive issues due to injuries but there is no doubting their attacking intensity even after they conceded against Derby via a through-ball pass, because they stayed cool and were able to grind out the comeback with two late clinical goals from set-pieces.
This game however will be a tough test for Boro because they’re facing the second-best goalscoring team but Hull’s defence is their Achilles heel at present, so I can see a competitive battle unfolding with a point apiece come full time.
Prediction: Hull 1-1 Middlesbrough
Result: Hull 1-4 Middlesbrough
