2025-26 Premier League: Week 12 – Leeds vs Aston Villa

Leeds United host Aston Villa in a huge Premier League clash affecting both ends of the table. 

Victory would lift Leeds out of the relegation zone and up to 16th in the table, whilst Villa can climb to fourth with a win.

Leeds have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 3-1 loss at Nottingham Forest as Wilfried Gnonto (calf/hernia) and Sebastiaan Bornauw (knee) both look set to be available for selection.

Villa could have Matty Cash available despite the Polish international having suffered a knock during the international break.

Andres Garcia (unspecified), Amadou Onana (muscle), Lamare Bogarde (knock) and Ezri Konsa (calf) face late fitness checks but Tyrone Mings (hamstring) remain sidelined.

• Leeds have kept just one clean sheet in their last five matches at home to Villa across the top two divisions, which came in a 0-0 draw in October 2022.
• Leeds are looking to avoid suffering three consecutive league defeats for the first time under Daniel Farke.
• Villa have won just one of their five away games in the top flight this season (W1, D2, L2).

 

Prediction

Now sat in the relegation zone at kick-off, Leeds need to knuckle down and try to put together a more solid display because after they took the lead at Forest, they just let their end product loosen despite decent attacking play amidst sloppy defensive marking and fouls.

Villa meanwhile absolutely dispatched Bournemouth in a clinical display despite having been given a proper battle throughout, which showed their confidence in their final touches and I expect them to bring that intensity and belief into this game.

Leeds though are difficult to beat at home with one defeat in five but if Villa can bring that same quality that has seen them lose just one of their last eight league matches, they should really take the win even if have to grind it out a bit.
