Wembley Stadium has been named as the host venue for England’s 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifier against Spain on Tuesday 14 April 2026.

Wembley hosted England’s UEFA Women’s Nations League clash at home against Spain in February this year, which the Lionesses won 1-0 through Jess Park’s 33rd-minute winner.

Spain however went on to top their group in that competition but both teams will now meet again in their 2027 FIFA World Cup Qualifying group, having both contested the final of the 2023 edition which was eventually won by La Roja through Olga Carmona’s first-half finish.

England Women’s manager, Sarina Wiegman has welcomed the decision to host the blockbuster qualifier at Wembley Stadium, London, as she spoke of the spirit that is created at the national stadium, but warned that qualification won’t be easy.

“Playing at Wembley always brings a special kind of energy, and we all feel it when we step on the pitch. The history and memories made there along with our incredible fans creates a unique atmosphere.

“Spain are of course one of the best teams in the world and to play them at Wembley again is exciting. We know from the EURO final just how tough they are to play against, and there’s a great deal of mutual respect between the two teams.

“It’s a challenging group but our objective is to qualify for the World Cup, that is what we are fully focused on from now. We hope our fans can help us take one step closer to Brazil at Wembley in April.”

A kick-off time is still yet to be announced as discussions continue with local authorities, although the FA has confirmed that it will take place in the evening.

Details of venues for England’s home qualifiers against Iceland and Ukraine on 7 March and 9 June respectively will be announced in due course.
