England winger, Bukayo Saka described their 2-0 win against Serbia as a “proud” result.
Saka opened the scoring with a 28th-minute volley before Eberechi Eze completed their victory with a 90th-minute strike on a quick counter-attack, which ended Serbia’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 24 year-old winger post-match explained to UK broadcaster, ITV that he was pleased with the clinical performance despite a series of wasted chances from various teammates throughout the match.
“It was a performance we can be proud of, we got the win and we played well.”
Saka added that he enjoyed his volley as he refused to definitively rate it as his best international goal.
“Maybe, it’s top two. It was a nice strike, I was happy it went in.”
Saka also reflected on the fact that England had won all seven games in their qualifying group without conceding as he vowed that the squad want to keep building momentum ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
“It’s been very successful, we’ve won every game and we want to keep building on that.”
