2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying: Greece vs Scotland

Greece host automatic-qualification chasing Scotland in a huge 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

Greece can guarantee a third-placed finish in the group with a win or draw if Belarus fail to defeat Denmark.

Scotland can go top of Group C with a win if Denmark fail to beat Belarus in Copenhagen, ahead of their top-of-table showdown on Tuesday 18 November.

Team News

Greece have no injury concerns to report ahead of this match.

Scotland will be without Ross McCrorie and Lennon Miller due to unspecified injuries.

Billy Gilmour will sit this match out due to an adductor injury, but could be involved in their final group match at home to Denmark.

When is Kick-Off?

Greece host Scotland at Karaiskakis Stadium, Piraeus, on Saturday 15 November at 9:45pm CET (7:45pm GMT), live on BBC Scotland plus BBC Two across the rest of the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Greece lost their only previous FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Scotland by 3-1 result at Hampden Park, Glasgow, in October 2025.
  • Scotland are playing an away FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Greece for the first time, but have won one of their two previous visits to Greece (W1, L1).
  • Both of Greece’s two previous home games against Scotland in all competitions have ended in 1-0 results, of which both teams took a win apiece.
  • Greece have conceded three goals in each of their last three matches (L3).
  • Che Adams has scored in two of Scotland’s last three matches.

Prediction

With their World Cup qualification dreams now over after three disappointing performances following a bright opening match, Greece now can just play their game and try to defensively tighten up after they shifted three goals in each of their last three games.

Scotland meanwhile have an inferior goal difference to Denmark so a win is ideally imperative here if want to go into their home game against the Danish with confidence – where automatic qualification will be settled in a winners-take-all showdown.

Defeat here coupled with a Denmark win though would almost all but certainly condemn Scotland to a play-off spot given their inferior goal difference, so a clinical display is needed and I can see that happening if they can keep things tight defensively after they rode their luck at times against Belarus.

Prediction: Greece 1-2 Scotland

Result: Greece 3-2 Scotland
