Nicolas Varrone has joined Van Amersfoort Racing for the 2026 F2 season.

Varrone’s graduation into F2 with Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) sees him return to single-seater racing for the first time since 2020, having started this decade in British F3 before he subsequently moved to endurance racing.

His biggest endurance racing success came in 2023 when he was part of Corvette Racing’s FIA World Endurance title-winning LMGTE AM team, which also won their class in the Le Mans 24 Hours that year.

The 24-year-old Argentinean is “super excited” to step up to F2 with VAR as he praised them for their professionalism.

“A very professional team with a lot of history and success. Can’t wait to get behind the wheel and start working with them. Thankful to everyone who believed in me all these years.”

VAR Team Principal, Brad Joyce added that he is “very pleased” to sign Varrone and believes that his endurance racing experience will count for little, such is the different challenge that F2 poses but is confident that he can adapt to the category.

“His experience and achievements in endurance racing, including his success at Le Mans, speak for themselves. Stepping into Formula 2 will be a new challenge, but with his talent and technical understanding, we’re confident he will adapt quickly to the environment.

“We’re looking forward to working with him and believe his arrival will bring great value to the team as we take on the season together.”
