2025-26 Sky Bet Championship: Week 12 – Friday

Preston North End host relegation-battling Sheffield United in a huge Sky Bet Championship clash.

Victory would lift Preston up to fifth in the table, whilst Sheffield Utd can climb to 19th with a win.

Team News

Preston have no fresh injury concerns after Tuesday’s 1-0 home loss to Birmingham City.

Robbie Brady (calf), Will Keane, Brad Potts (both muscle), Jordan Thompson (ankle) and Pol Valentin (hamstring) remain sidelined.

Sheffield Utd have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-1 win at Blackburn.

Oliver Arblaster (ACL), Tahith Chong, Ben Godfrey, Gustavo Hamer (all knee) and Tom Davies (calf) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Preston host Sheffield Utd at Deepdale on Friday 24 October at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Preston are winless in their last eight league meetings against Sheffield Utd (D2, L6).
  • Sheffield Utd have claimed ten points in their last five visits to Preston (W3, D1, L1)
  • Preston lost both of their last two home games against Sheffield Utd by 2-0 results.
  • 11 of Preston’s 16 points this season have been produced across six home matches (W3, D2, L1).
  • Two of Sheffield Utd’s three wins this season have come away from home.

Prediction

Having lost just one at home this season which came in a wasteful performance last time out against Birmingham City, Preston now must regroup and try to put together a polished display even despite their poor record against Sheffield Utd.

Chris Wilder’s Blades meanwhile won’t make this easy now that they’ve found their winning spark again with consecutive victories, even if they did look sluggish in the first half at Blackburn before making that step up after the break in a more clinical second half.

Although the Blades have the upper hand in this fixture and have found confidence again, I do think that Preston can get a result here if can tidy up their own finishing touches.

Prediction: Preston 1-1 Sheffield Utd

Result: Preston 3-2 Sheffield Utd
