Japanese driver, Kanato Le has joined ART GP for the 2026 F3 season.

Le is currently competing in Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA) and currently lies 14th in the standings with a season-best result of fourth in second race at Spa Francorchamps, Belgium.

The 18-year-old is now “super excited” to graduate into F3 and is keen to build on his performances in FRECA as he moves up into the third-tier of single-seater racing.

“I am really grateful for the opportunity they have given me to be able to race in this championship. It’s been a good year working with the team in FRECA this season and I look forward to getting started in F3.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point and trusting me. I will work hard with the team to achieve good results so I’m really looking forward to it.”

ART GP Team Principal, Sebastien Philippe added: “Kanato’s move to F3 is the natural continuation of his journey with ART Grand Prix.

“After two seasons in FRECA, he will now discover an even more demanding category, where every detail makes the difference. Kanato already knows the team and how it operates, which will help him integrate smoothly and focus fully on his driving.

“This continuity is important both for him and for us, and we are looking forward to the next stages of his development.”

Le began his single-seater career in 2022 in the Ginetta Junior Championship where he finished seventh overall with two wins and three further podium finishes, before he raced in F4 UAE and British F4 in 2023 – of which he took two victories in the latter series.

2024 saw him step up for the first of two seasons in FRECA amidst guest stints in Formula Regional Middle East Championship (FRMEC) and GB3, and he went on to start 2025 with a full FRMEC campaign which saw him claim one win and eighth in the standings.

Le will partner Maciej Gladysz and a third unannounced driver, which is thought to likely be his current FRECA teammate – Taito Kato who is too participating in the first F3 post-season test in Jerez, Spain.
