2025-26 Premier League: Week Seven – Aston Villa vs Burnley

Aston Villa look to continue their winning form against Burnley in a Premier League encounter.

victory could lift Villa as high as 10th depending on results elsewhere, whilst Burnley can climb out of the relegation zone with a win if Nottingham Forest lose at Newcastle.

Team News

Emiliano Martinez is unlikely to be available for Villa after he missed their 2-0 Europa League win at Feyenoord due to a calf injury.

Jadon Sancho could return after he missed their last two matches due to illness.

Tyrone Mings (ankle), Ross Barkley (personal), Amadou Onana (hamstring) and Youri Tielemans (calf) remain sidelined.

Burnley have no fresh injury concerns to report after their 5-1 defeat at Manchester City.

Jordan Beyer (hamstring), Conor Roberts (knee) and Zeki Amdouni (ACL) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Villa host Burnley at Villa Park on Sunday 5 October at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Prediction

Unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions (excluding penalties), Villa have certainly found their spark again which was evident in a resilient display at Feyenoord where they were clinically confident throughout in both defensive and attacking play.

Burnley meanwhile gave Man City a good fight until their defence inevitably collapsed in the second half but they can take heart from that battle, which will give them confidence coming into this game where they will need to be defensively solid to stop a resurgent Villa who have hit their groove now.

Although a 1-1 draw feels like an easy instinct given Burnley’s goalscoring form, I do think that Villa in their current form will have enough to find a winner.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 Burnley

Result: Aston Villa 2-1 Burnley
