South Korean driver, Michael Shin has joined Hitech GP for the 2026 F3 season.

Shin currently sit second in the 2025 EuroFormula season with a 23-point deficit to championship leader, Tymek Kucharczyk, but has previous F3 experience from the final three rounds of the 2023 season at Charouz which saw his best result come in the season finale at Monza as he finished 17th.

That season also saw him compete in GB3 with Hitech GP and the 21-year-old is now “delighted” to rejoin the British team for his full-time move into F3, having spent the last two seasons with Team Motopark in EuroFormula.

“Having been away from the team these past two years developing, this feels like a perfect reunion. I am looking forward to getting to work in the post-season tests and building towards a strong debut in Melbourne.”

Hitech GP’s F3 Team Manager, Paul Bellringer added that the team are “very pleased” to welcome Shin back to the team, following his improvement across the last two seasons.

“He’s shown real determination and strong results over the past few years, including during his previous GB3 experience with us, and his performances in EuroFormula Open and briefly in FIA F3 have demonstrated his ability to adapt quickly and compete at a high level.

“We’re looking forward to his continued development as he takes on a full campaign in FIA F3.”

F3 post-season testing begins in Jerez, Spain from 7-8 October, which is followed by a two-day visit to Barcelona on 15-16 October, before concluding at Imola, Italy on 21-22 October, with Shin partnering Jin Nakamura at Hitech plus an unannounced third driver.

Shin began his single-seater career in 2022 in F4 UAE and British F4 before he graduated into Formula Regional Middle East (FRMEC) and GB3 in 2023, during which he achieved a podium in the FRMEC category.

2024 and 25 saw Shin begin his season in Formula Regional Oceania where he took one race win in his rookie season in the category, before he ran a dual campaign across Eurocup-3 and EuroFormula last season which saw him take two victories in the latter to finish sixth overall.

This season saw Shin stay in EuroFormula but he also enjoyed a guest drive at the Silverstone round in GB3 where he finished third in the second race.
