Hitech GP have signed Jin Nakamura for the 2026 F3 season.

Nakamura is currently competing in Formula Regional European Championship, where he lies 11th in the drivers’ standings with a season-best third place at the second Austrian race being his best result of the campaign.

The 19-year-old also competed in Formula Regional Middle East at the start of 2025 and took one victory en-route to tenth in the standings.

Nakamura now will step up to F3 next season with Hitech GP and the Japanese driver is “very proud” to make the step up and achieve his dream to race in the category.

“It has been a dream to race in this championship. I am grateful to the team for their trust, and to Toyota Gazoo Racing, who have supported me throughout my racing journey.

“I have learned so much competing in Japan and Europe, and I feel well prepared to take on this next challenge. I can’t wait to get started in testing and prepare for a strong debut next year.”

Hitech’s Team Manager, Paul Bellringer added that the team are “excited” to sign Nakamura who they believe is adaptable and can build on a strong 2025 season next year.

“He has established himself as a very versatile driver, adapting well to different categories of racing, and I’m sure that will continue as he steps up to FIA Formula 3.

“His performances in FRECA and FRMEC have shown strong potential, with consistent podiums and points finishes underlining his clear development.

“We look forward to working closely with him and helping him maximise his potential as he takes this next step in his career.”

Nakamura began his single-seater career in 2022 with two seasons in Japanese F4 in which he took one win as he finished fourth in his rookie season, before he finished as vice-champion in 2023 with three wins.

2024 saw Nakamura move to Super Formula Lights where he achieved one win and seven further podiums to finish fourth in the standings, amidst guest stints in Super GT – GT300 and Super Taikyu – ST-2 which saw him help KTMS finish as teams’ champions in the latter category.
