Bromley manager, Andy Woodman has blasted his players for a “horrific” 2-0 defeat at Swindon.

First-half goals from Ollie Palmer and Aaron Drinan saw Swindon cruise past Bromley to go second in the table and seven points clear of the Ravens who slipped from eighth to 14th position following the result.

Woodman consequently was furious at his team’s performance with only two of 15 shots converted onto target as he slammed the tame first half in his post-match interview on Bromley’s YouTube channel.

“Uh, worst 45 minutes I’ve had since the football club in my opinion. Horrific! Um, couldn’t make a pass, didn’t make a tackle. Um, gifted two goals. Again I can’t keep saying that because it’s getting pretty boring.

“Um, everything we everything we worked on all week, we sort of chucked out of the window and done our own thing.

“Um, we couldn’t have made any more worse decisions in that first 45 minutes all over the pitch. Um and I think one or two players got to have a real think about what they’re doing because it’s uh nowhere near good enough.”

The 54-year-old also refused to hide his frustration as he vowed to knuckle down and review where the team must improve ahead of their home game against Tranmere Rovers.

“Well, yeah. I mean they were horrific, weren’t they? Let be honest. I mean, look, I’m not I’m not saying bad of Swindon but they haven’t really cut us open, have they? Look, and I can say that last week, but it doesn’t matter if beat us 2-0.

So it doesn’t really matter what I say, because the headline’s 2-0, but when you give teams goals like that, you ain’t got a chance to swing and you ain’t got a chance to anywhere.

“So, um, so we’re going to have to really really get my head down and think about this, because um it’s not good enough in my opinion. The goals, they’re not good enough.”

Bromley’s lack of shot conversion was notable and Woodman was critical of the fact that his team stepped up once the damage had been done, as he bemused the lack of bravery and basics.

“I think it’s easy to play when you’re 2-0 down. That’s the easy part when you’re 2-0 down to play football because the other team sit back, they let you have the ball. I’m not buying that. Um, the hardest time to win a football match is when it’s nil nil.

“You got to be brave and you got to get on the ball and you got to make good decision and you got to put the ball in the area where it’s got to go and you got to keep doing it and you got to keep doing it.

“If you ain’t going to do that or you ain’t going to do the basics of football, it does everything else is relevant.”

Woodman however applauded the 241 supporters who made the four-and-a-quarter-hour round trip as the sole positive that can be taken from the match.

“The only positive I can take is that the the group of fans up there singing right till the end. That’s the only positive I can take. I can’t take one other positive out today. Uh, as you can tell, I’m I’m so disappointed because I’ve not had that since I’ve been in this football club, that 45 minutes.”

Bromley are next in action at home to 18th-placed Tranmere who beat them 2-1 in both meetings last season and Woodman iterated that his players must reset psychologically heading into that must-win game, if the Ravens are to reignite their promotion challenge.

“Absolutely. And that won’t be easy. Um, and I think we got to I think we got to maybe all have a little reset, me included. Um you know we started off all right, but I think we have a little reset that this is there’s no easy games in this league.

“You know, wherever you go there is not one easy game and you have to earn the right in any football match. You have to earn the right and uh if you don’t do that, you’re you’re not going to win football matches.”
