West Ham have appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as manager on a three-year contract until June 2028.
Espirito Santo’s appointment comes just weeks after he was sacked by Nottingham Forest during the international break, whilst West Ham had relieved Graham Potter of his duties just hours earlier prior to the Portuguese’s arrival.
Espirito Santo has signed a three-year contract at the London Stadium until June 2028 and he takes over with the Hammers sat 19th in the Premier League, with the Portuguese “very pleased” to take up the role.
“I am very pleased to be here and very proud to be representing West Ham United,” explained Espirito Santo. “My objective is to work hard to get the very best from the team and ensure that we are as competitive as we possibly can be. The work has already started and I am looking forward to the challenge that is ahead.”
Espirito Santo’s first game in charge will see West Ham travel to Everton on Monday 29 September at 8pm BST, which is followed by consecutive London derbies either side of October’s international break starting with a trip to Arsenal on 4 October at 3pm.
His home bow will eventually come on Monday 20 October (8pm) as the Hammers host Brentford at London Stadium.
