Tottenham Hotspur look to continue their strong Premier League form in a clash against rock-bottom Wolves.
Victory would see Tottenham climb to second in the table until at least Sunday evening, before Arsenal play away at Newcastle.
Wolves can move off the foot of the table with a win if achieve a winning margin of two goals or more due to their slightly inferior goals scored tally compared to second-bottom West Ham.
Team News
Randal Kolo Muani is ruled out for Tottenham after he missed their Carabao Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers with a dead leg.
Pape Matar Sarr (knock), Ben Davies (knee) and Kota Taki (foot) could be available for selection.
Yves Bissouma (unspecified), Radu Dragusin, James Maddison (both ACL), Dejan Kulusevski (knee) and Dominic Solanke (ankle) are ruled out.
Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to report following their Carabao Cup victory at home to Everton.
Leon Chiwone (knee) remains ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Tottenham host Wolves at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 27 September at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports Premier League in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham are winless in their last five meetings against Wolves (D1, L4).
- Wolves have lost just two of their last eight visits to Tottenham (W4, D2, L2).
- Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen scored in both meetings against Spurs last season (W1, D1), having drawn 2-2 away then won 4-2 at home.
- Pedro Porro has made more clearances than any other Tottenham player this season in the Premier League, having managed 20 clearances in five appearances.
- Rodrigo Gomes has produced more shots in the league this season than any other Wolves player, having created six shots in four appearances.
Prediction
Knowing that they could begin the match eight points behind title leaders, Liverpool if the Reds beat Crystal Palace, this is a massive game for Tottenham if they want to keep pace up top in case an unlikely title challenge begin to open up for them.
Thomas Frank though will be pleased with how comfortably his players dispatched Doncaster in the Carabao Cup amidst seven changes to the starting line-up, especially given how hectic this period of the season is for them with games coming every few days.
Wolves meanwhile just simply imploded in their league defeat to Leeds because they looked the stronger team in the opening half hour, yet defensive failings resurfaced which somehow weren’t present when they beat Everton in midweek so it’s hard to know what to expect.
I however do think that Tottenham will end their winless streak in this fixture because they should have too much quality for Wolves, unless the Old Gold somehow turn up and reproduce that Carabao Cup display which feels like a huge ask.
Prediction: Tottenham 3-1 Wolves
Result: Tottenham 1-1 Wolves
