Wycombe Wanderers have sacked manager, Mike Dodds following a lacklustre start to the season.

Dodds’ exit comes after just eight months in charge following his arrival in February, which saw him guide the Chairboys to last season’s play-offs where they lost to eventual play-off winners – Charlton, having slipped out of the second automatic promotion spot in the last three regular-season matchweeks.

Their poor form continued this season with just one win in eight league matches which left them sat 19th in the third-tier, although they scraped through to the third round of the Carabao Cup with a second-round win at Bromley on penalties.

Wycombe nevertheless decided that a change of manager is needed in order to try and mount a promotion challenge, and released a short statement confirming that they “reluctantly” chose to part company with Dodds and first-team coach, Pete Shuttleworth.

“Wycombe Wanderers have today parted company with Head Coach Mike Dodds and First-Team Coach Pete Shuttleworth.

“The board has reluctantly taken this decision, and the club would like to place on record its gratitude to Mike and Pete for their hard work and efforts during their time with Wycombe Wanderers, and wish them every success for the future.”
