2025-26 League Two: Week Seven – Bromley vs Gillingham

Bromley meet Gillingham in a top of League Two showdown at the Copperjax Community Stadium.

Should Chesterfield fail to win away at Walsall, victory would lift Bromley up to the summit assuming that Crewe Alexandra, Swindon and Walsall don’t achieve huge wins elsewhere in the afternoon.

Gillingham will stay top with a win.

Team News

Bromley will be without new signing, Lakyle Samuel because he is currently on international duty for England Under-2os.

Carl Jenkinson is unlikely to make his first competitive appearance of the season as he continues his recovery from a hip injury.

Omar Sowunmi, Marcus Ifill and Michael Cheek will be expected to return to the starting eleven after they didn’t participate in the Ravens’ 3-3 draw and penalty shootout win over Crystal Palace Under-21s in the Vertu Trophy.

Gillingham could welcome loanee, Seb Palmer-Houlden back from a hamstring injury.

Garath McCleary and Jonny Smith could make their debuts but Conor Masterson (calf0 and Euan Williams (shoulder) are still ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Bromley host Gillingham at Copperjax Community Stadium on Saturday 6 September at 5:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Football channels in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bromley won their two previous EFL meetings against Gillingham (W2).
  • Gillingham lost their sole previous EFL visit to Bromley by 2-1 result in December 2024 (L1).
  • Bromley’s Jude Arthurs scored in both meetings against Gillingham last season (W2), as he netted their winner in a 2-1 victory at home then the second goal in a 3-0 away win.
  • Andy Woodman’s Ravens have avoided defeat in their last six league matches at home (W5, D1), with Nicke Kabamba having netted in their last four such games.
  • Gillingham have won three of their six league games this season by 1-0 results.

Prediction

Although several regulars were rested in the Vertu Trophy, their grinder of a league win over Harrogate last weekend stands them well for this decisive Kent derby because they demonstrated patience and clinical finishing to get the victory, which could well be key to extending their unbeaten run.

Gillingham meanwhile are top and won’t want to lose their spot at the summit to their rivals and will be motivated by their double defeat last season, but they have tended to grind out most of their league results aside from a 4-1 home win over Chesterfield so are a tough team to call.

Nevertheless both teams know that their unbeaten records are on the line so I expect another fierce battle as they won’t want to taste a first league defeat, but I do feel like Bromley will have enough to snatch this at home.

Prediction: Bromley 2-1 Gillingham

Result: Bromley 2-2 Gillingham
