Japan midfielder, Yui Hasegawa has signed a two-year contract extension at Manchester City until June 2029.
Hasegawa joined City from West Ham in September 2022 and has gone on to score twice in 95 appearances across all competitions, and was shortlisted for 2023 and 24 Women’s Ballon d’Or editions.
The 28-year-old midfielder made her most number of appearances in a single campaign last season after she managed 38 appearances in all competitions, and Hasegawa is “excited” to continue her stay with City.
“I’m very happy to have signed my contract extension, I’m so excited.
“I’m so excited because we can win the title this season. Because we have great players and a good football style so I hope this season will be good.
“I really want to win the title at this club and there are players I want to play with. This is one of the biggest reasons [why I wanted] to stay here.”
Women’s Director of Football, Therese Sjogran added that City are “absolutely delighted” to see Hasegawa commit her future to the club.
“She’s one of the world’s best in her position and will be a key part of our quest to compete with the world’s best on a regular basis.
“Yui deserves all the respect and recognition that comes her way, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds with her at the Joie.”
