2025-26 League Two: Week Six – Crewe Alexandra vs Swindon

Crewe Alexandra host Swindon Town in a massive Sky Bet League Two showdown.

Victory will see Crewe Alexandra stay top of the table, whilst Swindon can climb to third with a win ahead of the 3pm kick-offs.

Team News

Charlie Finney is a doubt for Crewe Alexandra after he suffered an unspecified injury during their defeat at Gillingham.

Joel Tabiner and Jack Lankester remain ruled out with knee injuries.

Swindon have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 2-1 home win over Shrewsbury, whilst Ryan Tafazolli could make his club debut following his move from Wycombe Wanderers.

James Ball (knee), Harry Smith and Harrison Minturn (both ACL) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Crewe Alexandra host Swindon at Gresty Road on Saturday 30 August at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Crewe Alexandra are unbeaten in their last six meetings against Swindon (W3, D3).
  • Swindon have claimed just one point in their last six league visits to Crewe Alexandra (D1, L5).
  • Crewe Alexandra have won two of their last three home games against Swindon by 2-1 results.
  • Crewe Alexandra are yet to concede at home this season (W2), although their three goals all came in the opening 30 minutes.
  • Swindon have lost just one of their last five away matches (W3, D1, L1).

Prediction

Still sat top of the table following their narrow first league defeat of the season at Gillingham, Crewe need to quickly put that loss behind them because this won’t be another easy game but one that is winnable if they can get the first goal given their home form so far this campaign.

Swindon meanwhile are a tricky team to call because they clearly have plenty of goalscoring threats in them but are defensively vulnerable with no clean sheets yet, which is a worry coming into this game given their away form at Crewe.

Their last-gasp winner against Shrewsbury however will give them some belief but if Crewe can quickly reset and don’t repeat their set-piece error which cost them at Gillingham, I can see the hosts winning this.

Prediction: Crewe Alexandra 2-1 Swindon

Result: Crewe Alexandra 0-3 Swindon
