BBC and ITV have secured UK broadcasting rights for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
This will mark the third consecutive women’s major tournament that BBC and ITV will share live UK broadcasting rights, having first done so for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup albeit after extensive negotiations due to price differentials with FIFA.
BBC and ITV will split coverage of every game between group stage up to semi-finals as is traditional, with both broadcasters simultaneously showing live coverage of the final.
BBC have also secured audio rights in the UK across BBC Radio 5 Live, 5 Live Extra and BBC Sounds.
Director of BBC Sport, Alex Kay-Jelski welcomed this new contract and ITV’s involvement in ensuring free-to-air coverage remains on terrestrial TV, despite the Women’s World Cup and Euro tournaments now sharing protected broadcast status alongside the men’s equivalent.
“Extending our partnership with FIFA alongside ITV ensures that the drama and spectacle of the Women’s World Cup remains free-to-air, continuing to inspire audiences across the UK, and bring in new fans of the game.”
ITV’s Director of Sport, Niall Sloane is delighted to see the broadcaster share the rights for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, especially as ITV will hold the England Women’s contract outside of major tournaments until the end of 2028-29 season.

ITV Sport is the home of the Lionesses and it’s vital we ensure tournaments like the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 remains free-to-air for generations of football fans to enjoy, with support of the game at an all time high.”
Sloane also spoke highly of the Lionesses’ semi-final victory over Italy at this summer’s Euro which brought in over ten million viewers at its peak, highlighting the growing support in the game and is excited to continue their partnership with BBC plus FIFA..

The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be held between 24 June – 25 July, before USA host the 2031 edition followed by UK in 2035.
