Sheffield United have signed forward, Louie Barry on a season-long loan from Aston Villa.
Barry previously worked with new Blades manager, Ruben Selles at Hull City in the second half of last season during which he only made four appearances.
The 22-year-old is now excited to move to Sheffield Utd on loan and reunite with Selles, having loved his playing style at Hull.
“The first time I had conversations about it, I just couldn’t wait to come here. The season is three weeks away, and I know we have a couple of friendlies before, but I am just buzzing to get started.
“I’ve been at Villa, playing games, training and working hard just for whatever will come next. As I say, when a club like this comes calling, you can’t turn it down and I can’t wait to get into it.
“I love his style of play, it is exactly what I stand for as a player. I just want to get to the goal as quick as possible. I have got a really good relationship with the gaffer and the staff, so I can’t wait to get into training now.”
Barry began his career at West Brom where he graduated through their youth academy up to Under-21s level, before he moved to Barcelona where the Coronavirus pandemic caused disruption which forced him to return to England.
Upon his return to England, Barry joined Villa and scored on his senior debut in the Villains’ 4-1 Third-Round exit in the 2020-21 FA Cup, albeit due to several first-team players having needed to isolate following a Coronavirus outbreak within the senior squad.
He has since enjoyed loan spells at Ipswich, Swindon, MK Dons, Salford, Stockport County and Hull, during which he helped Stockport clinch promotion to League One as 2023-24 League Two champions.
