Spain meet Belgium in a crucial Group B match at UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 in Thun, Switzerland.
Victory will see Spain virtually secure their place in the knockout stages, whilst Belgium must ideally win to keep their knockout dreams alive unless Italy lose to Portugal in the late kick-off.
Team News
Alba Redondo is a doubt after she missed Spain’s 5-0 demolition of Portugal due to a muscle injury.
Aitana Bonmati started on the bench after she recovered from viral meningitis but could be set to start here.
Belgium have no fresh injury concerns to report coming into this match.
When is Kick-Off?
Spain meet Belgium at Arena Thun, Thun, Switzerland, on Monday 7 July at 6pm CEST (5pm UK Time), live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Spain’s first-ever meeting against Belgium at UEFA Women’s Euro Finals.
- Belgium have won one of two previous meetings against Spain across all stages in UEFA Women’s Euro this century (W1, L1), having lost 9-1 away and won 2-0 at home in Qualifying for the 2005 edition.
- Spain have never won two consecutive group matches in this competition.
- Belgium have failed to score in two of their last three matches in all competitions (W1, L2).
Prediction
Having demolished Portugal from the get-go in their opening game, Spain now can’t get complacent if they want to realistically continue their expected push to top the group as they need to once again bring that intensity and press which makes them title favourites.
Belgium meanwhile were just outclassed by Italy who were simply more dominant and clinical despite the Belgians’ defensive resilience, but they now need to come out and show some attack if they’re to trouble the world champions and keep their knockout dreams alive.
I however do expect Spain to end that run of failing to win consecutive group games in this competition as their depth and quality will be too much, unless Belgium can turn up and trouble them like they did in their first meeting of the year in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.
Prediction: Spain 3-0 Belgium
Result: Spain 6-2 Belgium
