Guide to the 2025 British Grand Prix as McLaren come into their home race off the back of a dominant one-two in Austria.

Oscar Piastri heads home hero, Lando Norris coming into Silverstone with a 15-point lead in their title battle as the McLaren pair continue their tussle for this season’s crown as F1 hits the half-way mark of the season.

Mercedes’ George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton will look to challenge Norris for a home victory, whilst Haas’ Oliver Bearman is set for his first home race as a F1 driver.

Silverstone also represents the home race for many UK-based teams up and down the grid, with McLaren, Aston Martin and Williams as British entries, whilst Alpine, Haas, Mercedes and Red Bull have UK-based factories.

Mercedes’ Russell headed Hamilton and Norris at the start in a British 1-2-3 on the grid in 2024 until a rain shower handed Norris the lead as everyone pitted for intermediate tyres, but the track soon dried up and a strategy error at McLaren cost Norris victory.

Hamilton consequently snatched victory on the soft tyre against a fast hard-tyre charging Verstappen, after the Dutchman demoted Norris to third on lap 48 but couldn’t deny the seven-time champion his ninth home win.
