Midfielder, Myles Lewis-Skelly has signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

Lewis-Skelly’s contract was set to expire at the end of next season but with domestic and European clubs rumoured to be eying up a transfer move for the youngster this summer, Arsenal swooped to tie him down to a fresh long-term contract.

The exact lengthy of the 18-year-old’s new contract is currently publicly unknown but is believed to be longer than his initial three-year contract, as FA rules prohibited players aged 17 years or under from signing professional contracts of more than three years.

Now 18-years-old, Lewis-Skelly is “proud and happy” to have signed his new contract as he acknowledged his journey through the academy and has vowed to make a legacy with the Gunners.

“I’ve embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I’ve still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that’s the most important thing to me.

“I know I’ve taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I’ve made. I’m definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving.

“I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that’s always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”

Lewis-Skelly made his senior debut as a second-half substitute for Jurrien Timber in a 2-2 draw away at Manchester City in the Premier League in late September 2024, before he was handed his first senior start mere days later in a 5-1 home win over Bolton in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The 18-year-old academy graduate went on to make 39 appearances in total across all competitions last season, during which he scored his first senior goal in a 5-1 victory at home against Man City, whilst he suffered his first senior red card in a 1-0 home loss to West Ham.

This season also saw Lewis-Skelly earn his first senior international call-up for England in March against Albania and Latvia, and he proceeded to score the opening goal on debut against Albania which made him England’s youngest goalscorer on debut at 18 years and 176 days old.
