Burnley have signed defender, Axel Tuanzebe on a free transfer from Ipswich Town.
Tuanzebe will officially complete his move on 1 July once his contract at Ipswich has expired the day earlier (30 June), making him the Clarets’ third signing of the window after Max Weib and Quilindschy Hartman.
Jaidon Anthony, Marcus Edwards, Zian Flemming and Bashir Humphreys meanwhile made their loan moves permanent earlier this month.
Speaking about his move to Burnley, Tuanzebe was pleased to be back within North-West England where he began his career with Manchester United.
“I’m delighted to be here.
“It became a very simple decision after speaking to the manager and the message was very clear, precise and straight to the point.
“It’s a new chapter for me, back in the vicinity of Manchester and home and I’m ready to continue my journey now at Burnley.”
Tuanzebe made 37 appearances for Man Utd between 2017 – 23 despite having been an unused substitute on previous occasions prior to his debut in January 2017.
During his time at Utd, Tuanzebe made 46 appearances across three separate loan spells at Aston Villa and enjoyed less successful loans at Napoli and Stoke.
Upon his release from Utd in summer 2023, Tuanzebe moved to Ipswich where he helped the Tractor Boys achieve promotion from Championship to Premier League in his first season at Portman Road, but last season saw the team suffer instant relegation with a 19th-placed top-flight finish.
