Brentford have signed midfielder, Theo Mawene from Preston North End for an undisclosed fee.

Mawene will go straight into Brentford’s B-Team having signed a long-term contract with the Bees who paid an undisclosed transfer fee for the 17-year-old.

Brentford B’s Head Coach, Neil MacFarlane explained that the club had monitored Mawene’s progress for a while and is “delighted” to finally complete his transfer, with belief that he can add creativity to the team.

“We have been tracking Theo for a while and are delighted finally that he will be joining us when we return for pre-season.

“He is a player with a lot of quality and potential at the top end of the pitch. He will add to the creativity already in the squad and with his terrific attitude will complement our culture as we look to keep improving on last season.”

Mawene made his senior debut as a substitute against Leicester in Preston’s final home game of the 2023-24 Championship season, which the hosts lost 3-0 as the Foxes sealed that season’s title after having already secured promotion just days earlier.

The 17-year-old then made his second substitute senior appearance for Preston in a 3-0 Quarter-Final defeat at home to Aston Villa in last season’s FA Cup.
