Newly-crowned Europa League champions, Tottenham Hotspur meet top-eight chasing Brighton & Hove Albion on the final day of 2024-25 Premier League.
Victory could see Tottenham finish as high as 14th provided that Wolves, West Ham and Manchester United all lose elsewhere, whilst only victory will see Spurs avoid finishing as the worst-placed top-flight London club this season.
Brighton will secure eighth with a win or draw, although defeat would be enough if Brentford fail to win at Wolves.
Team News
Tottenham have no fresh injury concerns to report after their Europa League title win over Manchester United in the final.
Lucas Bergvall (ankle), Radu Dragusin (ACL), Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison (both knee), Dane Scarlett (groin) and Timo Werner remain absent.
Brighton could welcome Jason Steele (finger) and Tariq Lamptey (knee) back into contention if the pair pass late fitness checks.
Joao Pedro (personal), Georginio Rutter (ankle), Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), Solly March (knee) and James Milner (hamstring) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Tottenham host Brighton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 25 May at 4pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham have won four of their last seven meetings against Brighton (W4, L3).
- Brighton have won one of seven previous league visits to Tottenham (W1, L6).
- Tottenham have won four of their last five home games against Brighton by 2-1 results, whilst their other clash in that period ended in a 1-0 victory for the Seagulls in April 2022.
- No Tottenham player has scored more headed league goals this season than Richarlison (3).
- Danny Welbeck has scored in each of Brighton’s last three away games (W1, L2).
Prediction
Coming into this game on a high following their Europa League title success in an otherwise scruffy tie against Man Utd, it is tough to predict what sort of Tottenham team will be put out by Ange Postecoglou but I do expect them to now try and finish the season with another win for momentum sake.
Brighton however have eighth in their own hands so just need to knuckle down and try to at least grind out a draw if Tottenham turn up eager to end their domestic six-match winless streak, but they were superb in their comeback against Liverpool with resilience and composure to fight back from behind twice.
Spurs though have been a tricky away trip for Brighton and having this game after their Europa League win will only motivate the hosts to finish the season on a high, but I do think that Fabian Hürzeler’s Seagulls should be able to snatch a crucial point.
Prediction: Tottenham 1-1 Brighton
Result: Tottenham 1-4 Brighton
