2024-25 Premier League: Week 38 – Fulham vs Man City

Fulham host top-five-chasing Manchester City on the final day of 2024-25 Premier League.

Victory could see Fulham finish ninth if Brentford lose at Wolves, whilst Man City can secure Champions League qualification with a win or draw.

Should City however lose at Craven Cottage then they require two of the following three scenarios to occur for them to finish in the top five:

  • Newcastle lose to Everton
  • Aston Villa lose to Manchester United
  • Forest to beat Chelsea without a 14-goal swing into the Tricky Trees’ favour.

Team News

Fulham have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-2 comeback victory at Brentford.

Timothy Castagne (ankle), Harrison Reed (calf), Rodrigo Muniz (Achilles) and Reiss Nelson (hamstring) remain absent.

Man City will be without Mateo Kovacic following his red card in their 3-1 home win over Bournemouth.

John Stones remains absent with a thigh injury.

When is Kick-Off?

Fulham host Man City at Craven Cottage on Sunday 25 May at 4pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Fulham are winless in their last 19 league meetings against Man City (D3, L16).
  • Man City are unbeaten in their last 12 visits to Fulham (W9, D3).
  • Ex City forward, Julian Alvarez scored in each of the Cityzens’ last two visits to Fulham (W2).
  • Fulham have scored first in three of their last four league matches at home (W2, L2), only failing to do so in a comeback 3-2 win over Liverpool in April.
  • City have claimed four points in three visits to London-based clubs in the second half of this season (W1, D1, L1). during which they netted four goals via Phil Foden and Erling Haaland who both scored twice.

Prediction

Although any chance of a top-eight finish is done, Fulham can still finish as London’s third-best team this season if they play with the same fighting spirit which saw them come from behind to beat Brentford, yet their defence will need to be at their best because this won’t be an easy task.

Man City ideally needs at least a point to survive and after comfortably demolishing Bournemouth, I would be shocked if they blew Champions League qualification as that would be pretty embarrassing especially given their strong form against Fulham.

This is the final day though and Fulham have nothing much to play for really which will make them dangerous with no pressure, but I do think that City will somehow find their way to the win if avoid bringing a lack of Plan B creativity as saw in two of their last three matches.

Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Man City

Result: Fulham 0-2 Man City
