2024-25 Premier League: Week 37 – Aston Villa vs Tottenham

Aston Villa look to continue their top-five push against Tottenham Hotspur as the penultimate weekend of 2024-25 Premier League season commences.

Victory will see Aston Villa climb into the top five and potentially as high as fourth if Chelsea lose in the late kick-off.

Tottenham can climb to 14th with a win if Manchester United fail to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Team News

Jacob Ramsey is suspended for Villa after he was sent off in their 1-0 victory at Bournemouth.

Youri Tielemans (muscle) and Marcus Rashford (hamstring) remain absent.

Tottenham will be without Dejan Kulusevski after he suffered a right knee injury during their defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

Timo Werner has also been ruled out of this game due to a hamstring injury.

Dane Scarlett (groin), Lucas Bergvall (ankle), Radu Dragusin (ACL) and James Maddison (knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Villa host Tottenham at Villa Park on Friday 16 May at 7:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports Premier League in the UK.

Prediction

Having snatched a clinical victory at Bournemouth in a pretty evenly-matched game where one final touch proved the difference, Villa now need to continue that momentum as this is must-win if want a shot at the top five in terms of points given their inferior goal difference.

Tottenham meanwhile seem to have checked out mentally of the league in recent weeks which was no more evident than in a lacklustre loss to Palace, and it is hard to see them turning that around here despite their superb league form at Villa as the Europa League Final is their absolute priority.

With that mind, I can see just one result coming which will surely set up a massive final day in the top-five race.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0 Tottenham

Result: Aston Villa 2-0 Tottenham
