2024-25 UEFA Europa League Semi-Finals: Second Leg – Bodø/Glimt vs Tottenham

Bodø/Glimt look to mount a second leg comeback against Tottenham in their 2024-25 UEFA Europa League semi-final.

Trailing 3-1 on aggregate, Bodø/Glimt simply need to win by at least a three-goal margin to progress to a first major European final, although a win by a two-goal margin would force extra time and potentially penalties.

Tottenham simply need to avoid defeat or lose by a single goal to secure their place in the final.

Team News

Patrick Berg, Hakon Evjen and Andreas Helmersen are set to return after they missed Bodø/Glimt ‘s 3-1 loss in the first leg through suspension.

Daniel Bassi is set to miss out with a leg injury.

Tottenham could welcome Dominic Solanke back after he missed their 1-1 draw at West Ham in the Premier League, due to a quad injury suffered in the first leg of this tie.

Son Heung-min (foot), Lucas Bergvall (ankle), Radu Dragusin (ACL) and James Maddison (knee) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Bodø/Glimt host Tottenham at Aspmyra Stadium on Thursday 8 May at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on TNT Sports 2 in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bodø/Glimt lost their only previous meeting against Tottenham by 3-1 result in the first leg of this tie.
  • Tottenham are making their first-ever away trip to Bodø/Glimt in all UEFA competitions.
  • Bodø/Glimt have lost just one of 10 home games in all UEFA competitions this season (W9, L1).
  • Rodrigo Bentancur has been booked in Tottenham’s last two away games in this competition (W1, L1), which were both settled by 1-0 results as they lost away to AZ Alkmaar and then won at Eintracht Frankfurt.
  • Bodø/Glimt lost their only previous home game against English opposition (L1), which came in a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the group phase in the 2022-23 edition of this competition.

Prediction

Trailing by two goals but holding a superb home record this season which saw them beat Twente and Olympiacos by three-goal margins earlier in the knockout stages, Bodø/Glimt can’t be underestimated especially if they score first because they clearly fear little but their defence has to be tighter than it was in North London.

Tottenham though know that this is do-or-die as far as their season is concerned after a wasteful draw at West Ham where they often lacked composure in their final touches, so they need to be more clinical and play with the same control and intensity which saw them dominate the first leg.

Although Bodø/Glimt might have a great home record, I don’t see them overturning their two-goal deficit if Tottenham turn up with the right attitude and avoid doing a Twente or Olympiacos, but Bodø/Glimt won’t make this easy in front of a strong home crowd.

Prediction: Bodø/Glimt 1-1 Tottenham

Result: Bodø/Glimt 0-2 Tottenham (Tottenham win 5-1 on aggregate)
