Inter Milan meet Barcelona in the second leg of their 2024-25 UEFA Champions League semi-final.
With the tie locked at 3-3 after the first leg, victory would see either Inter Milan or Barcelona reach the final but a draw would send the tie to extra time and potentially a penalty shootout.
Team News
Lautaro Martinez is unlikely to be available for Inter Milan after he suffered a hamstring injury in the first leg, which forced him to miss their Serie A win over Hellas Verona.
Hakan Calhanoglu is available after he was suspended for the domestic win last weekend, whilst Benjamin Pavard (ankle) remains absent.
Barcelona will be without Jules Kounde after the defender suffered a hamstring injury during the first leg.
Alejandro Balde and Robert Lewandowski (both hamstring) could return, albeit on the bench if pass late fitness checks.
Marc Bernal (ACL) and Marc Casado (knee) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Inter Milan host Barcelona at San Siro on Tuesday 6 May at 9pm CEST (8pm UK Time), live on Amazon Prime in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Inter Milan have avoided defeat in seven of their 13 previous Champions League meetings against Barcelona (W2, D5, L6).
- Barcelona have won one of six previous Champions League visits to Inter Milan (W1, D3, L2).
- Inter have kept clean sheets in three of their six previous home games against Barcelona in this competition.
- Four of Inter Milan’s last seven goals at home were scored by Lautaro Martinez.
- Five of Raphinha’s 12 Champions League goals for Barcelona this season were scored away from home.
Prediction
Having grinded out an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Nou Camp, Inter now need to bring that same dynamic quality which saw them twice lead but cut out the defensive mistakes which gave Barcelona a way back into the tie, otherwise they could be in for another tough scrap if can’t quieten Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
Barcelona meanwhile realistically needed to win their home leg given their poor away form against Inter Milan as they now need to try and get the first goal to ideally control this tie, but their defensive play against Inter Milan’s crosses needs to be much tighter given the space that the Italian side had for their three goals.
Either way this return leg has a lot to live up after a dramatic opening leg but if Inter can show the same fight that saw them avoid defeat in their European games at home so far this season, I fancy them to edge this tie.
Prediction: Inter Milan 2-1 Barcelona
Result: Inter Milan 4-3 Barcelona (Inter Milan win 7-6 on aggregate)
