Guide to the 2025 Miami Grand Prix as F1 heads Stateside for the first race on American soil this season.
Following a busy triple-header across Japan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, McLaren remain the team to beat but there was a change of title leader at the latter race as Oscar Piastri for the first time took the championship lead from teammate, Lando Norris.
F1 now regroups in Miami for the first Stateside race of the season as Piastri looks to try and protect his title lead from Norris on the second sprint weekend of the season.

Five Key Pointers
- Despite Pirelli bring a softer tyre selection to Miami than in 2024, teams expect the main race to be a one-stopper unless there is a well-timed safety car which allows opportunity to make a second stop.
- Pole position doesn’t seem to be the best starting position at this circuit with the GP pole-sitters in three previous visits having failed to go on to take victory.
- As one of F1’s more technical circuits with a variety of corners and straights, a medium-level downforce is required around the Miami International Autodrome.
- Miami should produce plenty of opportunities for overtaking across Sprint and GP such was its high number of overtakes in the three previous visits.
- A threat of rain is forecast for race day which could prove a fresh challenge if the wet weather materialises given that teams haven’t previously ran in the wet around this circuit.
Last Time Out
Verstappen dominated the 2024 Miami Sprint before he went on to take pole position and dominated the first half of the race until the safety car was deployed on Lap 29, which allowed Norris to make his stop then controlled the race thereafter to take his maiden F1 victory.
