Southampton play host to top-eight chasing Fulham in a Premier League clash at St Mary’s Stadium.
Victory or a draw would see Southampton avoid sharing the lowest points total in Premier League history, whilst Fulham can climb to eighth if match or better Brighton’s result elsewhere.
Team News
Southampton have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-1 draw at West Ham on Easter Saturday.
Charlie Taylor (knock) and Albert Gronbæk (tendon) remain absent.
Fulham will again be without forward, Rodrigo Muniz after he missed their 2-1 loss to Chelsea with an unspecified injury.
Emile Smith Rowe (back) faces a late fitness check but Reiss Nelson (hamstring) remains absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Southampton host Fulham at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday 26 April at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Southampton have won one of their last five meetings against Fulham (W1, D2, L2).
- Fulham have won just one of their last nine top-flight visits to Southampton (W1, D4, L4)
- Victory would see Fulham claim consecutive away victories over Southampton for the first time in the Cottagers’ history.
- Southampton have scored in five of their last six matches (D2, L4).
- Antonee Robinson has been booked in two of Fulham’s last three away matches (L3).
Prediction
Although they’ve now equalled Derby’s record lowest points tally in Premier League history, Southampton now will want to avoid sharing that statistic especially after they produced a solid display at West Ham with a deserved late equaliser.
Fulham on the other hand were undone against Chelsea through some sloppy late marking errors after having enjoyed a confident first-half display, so they really need to bounce back now if want to put the pressure back on Bournemouth in the race for eighth,
Although Southampton won’t make this easy given their defensive improvement last weekend, I can’t see Fulham losing this if they turn up with the right attitude and don’t switch off at the back.
Prediction: Southampton 0-1 Fulham
Result: Southampton 1-2 Fulham
