2024-25 League Two: Week 45 – Doncaster vs Bradford

Doncaster Rovers meet Bradford City in a blockbuster top of League Two showdown in the race for automatic promotion.

Victory will keep Doncaster top of the table and secure promotion, although they can still be promoted with a game to spare if match Walsall’s result against Accrington Stanley.

Doncaster will also wrap up the title if they win and Port Vale lose at AFC Wimbledon.

Bradford could go top with a win if Port Vale lose in South London and can wrap up promotion if Walsall lose in the mid-afternoon kick-offs.

Team News

Jack Senior is ruled out for Doncaster after he suffered a hamstring injury during their 3-0 home win over Colchester on Easter Monday.

Jay McGrath (unspecified) and Joe Ironside (hernia) are set to return but Joseph Olowu (thigh) and Richard Wood (ankle) won’t be risked.

Bradford could be without left-back, Tayo Adaramola after he suffered an issue in their 3-3 draw at Chesterfield.

Andy Cook (ACL) and Lewis Richards (shoulder) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Doncaster host Bradford at Eco-Power Stadium on Saturday 26 April at 12:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports+ Red Button in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Doncaster have won one of their last five league meetings against Bradford (W1, D2, L2).
  • Bradford have won four of their last six league visits to Doncaster (W4, L2).
  • Bradford have kept clean sheets in three of their last four wins at Doncaster.
  • Doncaster have avoided defeat in their last six home matches (W3, D3).
  • Graham Alexander’s Bantams are winless in their last five away games (D2, L3).

Prediction

Unbeaten in their last nine matches and enjoyed a clinical Easter double-header with 3-0 wins over Tranmere and Colchester, Doncaster certainly have the perfect momentum coming into this Yorkshire derby which suits them as they can afford to grind out a draw and still have promotion in their own hands going into the final day.

Bradford meanwhile have wit a rut of inconsistent form at the worst possible time but they still can’t be written off because they clearly have the attacking quality, yet their defence seems to have lost its nerve which was evident as they let a 3-1 lead slip in their draw at Chesterfield so more resilient defending is needed here.

Add in the fact that this is a Yorkshire derby with local pride at stake let alone promotion and I do think that this could well be too close to call.

Prediction: Doncaster 1-1 Bradford

Result: Doncaster 2-1 Bradford
