2024-25 Premier League: Week 31 – West Ham vs Bournemouth

Bournemouth seek to reignite their push for Champions League qualification in a trip to West Ham.

Victory would lift West Ham up to 14th if Everton lose at lunchtime, whilst Bournemouth can go eighth with a win if Brighton lose elsewhere.

Team News

Mohammed Kudus is a doubt for West Ham after he missed their midweek loss at Wolves with a hip injury.

Jean-Clair Todibo (illness) could be available after he was an unused substitute at Molineux, whilst Emerson Palmieri and Luis Guilherme (calf) face late fitness checks.

Crysencio Summerville (hamstring) and Michail Antonio (leg) remain ruled out.

Bournemouth will be without midfielder, Ryan Christie due to his on-going groin injury which he has battled through for much of the season.

Julian Araujo (hamstring) and Justin Kluivert (fatigue) could return but Marcus Tavernier (ankle), Luis Sinisterra (hamstring) and Enes Unal (ACL) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off?

West Ham host Bournemouth at the London Stadium on Saturday 5 April at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • West Ham are unbeaten in their last seven league meetings against Bournemouth (W3, D4).
  • Bournemouth have won one of their last six league trips to West Ham (W1, D2, L3).
  • Each of West Ham’s last three league meetings against Bournemouth have ended in 1-1 draws.
  • West Ham have lost two of their last three home matches by 1-0 results.
  • Each of Bournemouth’s last three visits to London has ended in 2-2 draws which came at Fulham, Chelsea and Tottenham respectively.

Prediction

Having lacked much cutting edge in their end product despite decent build-up play during their defeat to Wolves, West Ham really need to try and turn the tide if want to finish higher up the table otherwise it feels like they’re already on the beach rather than building momentum for next season which is a dangerous move if so. ]

Bournemouth meanwhile just seem to still not have that polished touch to their end product amidst defensive errors, which certainly cost them against an energetic Ipswich attack who took their chances first clinically and left the Cherries with too much to do despite clawing a goal back.

I however do think that West Ham’s mentality is genuinely on the beach in terms of end product and this is a game that Bournemouth must surely win, otherwise I think that they can forget Europe barring a late charge.

Prediction: West Ham 0-1 Bournemouth

Result: West Ham 2-2 Bournemouth
