2024-25 League One: Week 38 – Wrexham vs Stockport

Promotion-chasing Wrexham meet Stockport County in a huge League One clash.

Victory or a draw will move Wrexham back into the second and last automatic promotion spot, whilst Stockport can climb to fourth with a win if Charlton fail to beat Peterborough elsewhere.

Team News

Sebastian Revan and Ryan Barnett face late fitness tests after they missed Wrexham’s win at Wycombe due to knocks.

Andy Cannon (ACL), Callum Burton (thigh) and Luke Bolton (calf) remain absent.

Stockport will be without Ben Hinchcliffe (adductor), Fraser Horsfall and Nick Powell (both unspecified).

When is Kick-Off?

Wrexham host Stockport at STOK Racecourse Ground on Saturday 22 March at 3pm GMT, live on Sky Sports+ in the UK.

Prediction

With one loss in their last six matches and knowing that Wycombe are not in action this weekend, this is a massive chance for Wrexham to seize the initiative in the promotion race if they can continue to keep grinding out results, which is what teams sometime must do in their position.

Stockport though are realistically set for the play-offs but a win here could be the spark that they need for an unlikely late charge for automatic promotion with some luck needed too in the run-in, so it has to be a case of continuing to perform on the road and delivering wins for them.

I however do feel that this will be a close battle and a point apiece looks the best possibility unless either team scores first then dig in defensively for the win.

Prediction: Wrexham 1-1 Stockport

Result: Wrexham 1-0 Stockport
