Thomas Tuchel has named his first England squad for 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
Tuchel has made some surprise decisions which included the decision to call up four goalkeepers, with Dean Henderson, Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale joined by Burnley’s James Trafford.
Reece James and Jarrell Quansah have been recalled in defence in place of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Taylor Harwood-Bellis, whilst Rico Lewis has been omitted.
Newcastle’s Lewis Hall has missed out with a foot injury which has meant that his teammate, Dan Burn has earned his maiden senior call-up.
Eberechi Eze has been recalled to midfield following a strong period for the winger amidst some injury issues across the opening half of this season.
Jordan Henderson is also back in the squad after not featuring since November 2023, having rediscovered his form at Ajax, with Morgan Gibbs-White unexpectedly snubbed along with Conor Gallagher and Angel Gomes.
Up front in attack, Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka miss out due to injury with Jarrod Bowen and Marcus Rashford recalled to replace the duo, whilst Ollie Watkins is left out of the squad following a dip in form.
England host Albania on Friday 21 March before they meet Latvia on Monday 24 March, with both games played at Wembley Stadium in a 7:45pm GMT kick-off live on ITV1 in the UK.
