Arsenal look to wrap up a dominant aggregate victory over PSV in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie in 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.
With a 7-1 aggregate lead from the first leg, Arsenal will progress with a victory, draw or if they lose by five goals or less.
PSV simply must win and score at least six goals to stand any chance of reaching the Quarter-Finals.
Team News
Arsenal have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 1-1 Premier League draw at Manchester United.
Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka (all hamstring), Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu (both knee) remain absent.
PSV will again be without Lucas Perez (ineligible) and Ricardo Pepi (knee) after the pair missed the first leg, although Sergino Dest is available after he missed the first leg due to a knee injury.
When is Kick-Off?
Arsenal host PSV at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday 12 March at 8pm GMT, live on TNT Sports 2 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Arsenal have avoided defeat in eight of their nine previous Champions League meetings against PSV (W4, D4, L1).
- PSV are winless in four previous Champions League visits to Arsenal (D2, L2).
- Their 7-1 win in the first leg of this Round of 16 tie marked Arsenal’s biggest-ever win over PSV in the Champions League, having previously twice won by 4-0 results.
- Arsenal scored nine goals at home in the league phase without conceding (W4).
- PSV have won just one of their five away games in this season’s competition (W1, D1, L3).
Prediction
With a strong aggregate lead and coming into this home leg off the back of a sloppy draw at Man Utd where they dominated but lacked composure in their end product, Arsenal certainly can afford to rotate a bit if they wish to but I do think that they will go fairly strong initially then make changes as the game wears on.
PSV meanwhile have a mountain to climb to overcome their deficit which I just can’t see them doing given their poor away form in this season’s edition, so this will be a free hit for them especially given that they’ve not won at Arsenal in this competition before.
If PSV are more clinical then they should win this leg but I do think that Arsenal will have enough in them to at least play out a quiet draw, if not even win if can produce the same performance as saw in the first leg.
Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 PSV
Result: Arsenal 2-2 PSV (Arsenal win 9-3 on aggregate)
