2024-25 Sky Bet Championship: Week 36 – Sunday

Portsmouth meet promotion-chasing Leeds United at Fratton Park in a Championship clash.

Victory would see Portsmouth stay 17th but move ten points clear of the drop, whilst Leeds will move three points clear of Sheffield United at the summit with a win.

Team News

Portsmouth could hand new free signing, Alexander Milosevic his debut in this game.

Callum Lang, Connor Shaughnessy, Jordan Williams (all hamstring), Rob Atkinson (calf), Hayden Matthews (ankle), Ibane Bowat, Paddy Lane and Jacob Farrell (all knee) remain sidelined.

Leeds have no fresh injury concerns following their 1-1 draw against West Brom.

Ethan Ampadu, Max Wober (both knee) and Patrick Bamford (hamstring) remain ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Portsmouth host Leeds at Fratton Park on Sunday 9 March at 12pm GMT, live on ITV1 and Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Portsmouth are winless in their last five meetings against Leeds (D4, L1).
  • Leeds are winless in their last six league trips to Portsmouth (D4, L2), since they claimed a 3-2 win in April 1986.
  • Portsmouth have kept clean sheets in two of their last three home games against Leeds in all competitions.
  • Portsmouth have lost just one of their last 11 league matches at home (W8, D2, L1).
  • Leeds have conceded one goal in their last four away matches (W3, D1).

Prediction

Although their defeat at fellow relegation-battling Luton wasn’t too surprising given their awful away form, Portsmouth are lucky to have a gap to the drop due to their home form but they will have to be clinical but crucially defend resiliently if want any points here.

Leeds meanwhile are currently unstoppable but West Brom’s well-organised defensive approach showed that it is possible to frustrate Daniel Farke’s Whites, although I expect Leeds to turn up at Fratton Park and dominate such is their superior quality and momentum.

Portsmouth however can’t be underestimated on their home turf but I just can’t see Leeds leaving empty handed if they score first.

Prediction: Portsmouth 0-2 Leeds

Result: Portsmouth 1-0 Leeds
