2024-25 Premier League: Week 28 – Chelsea vs Leicester

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea host his former team, Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in a huge clash at both ends of the Premier League table.

Victory will lift Chelsea up to fourth in the table, whilst Leicester can climb to 18th with a win.

Team News

Malo Gusto could be available for Chelsea despite having picked up a knock in their UEFA Conference League win at Copenhagen.

Romeo Lavia (muscle) could return but Mykhailo Mudryk (suspension), Marc Guiu (muscle), Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Omari Kellyman (all hamstring) are still ruled out.

Leicester could welcome Woyo Coulibaly (knock) and Ricardo Pereira (muscle) back into contention.

Abdul Fatawu (ACL)  remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Chelsea host Leicester at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 9 March at 2pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Chelsea are unbeaten in their last six league meetings against Leicester (W5, D1).
  • Leicester have won one of their last five league trips to Chelsea (W1, D2, L2).
  • Chelsea won two of their last four home games against Leicester by 2-1 results, whilst the other two clashes ended in 1-1 draws.
  • Pedro Neto has scored in Chelsea’s last two home matches (W2).
  • Leicester have conceded 12 goals in their last four league games without scoring (L4).

Prediction

Having snatched a clinical victory over Copenhagen in a low-quality contest in the Danish capital, Chelsea need to switch focus because they’ve got a great opportunity to put themselves fourth in the league now if can show their quality as we saw in their last home outing against Southampton.

Leicester meanwhile were just poor in their loss at West Ham with a defence which seems to had downed tools in terms of quality and resilience, even though their attack was still lively but wasteful which has to improve if they want any chance of winning here.

I however do feel like this will be an one-sided result if Chelsea turn up with the right attitude and can get aggressively at Leicester’s sloppy defence.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Leicester

Result: Chelsea 1-0 Leicester
