BBC have secured broadcast rights to 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers featuring Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Viaplay previously held the rights but pulled out of the UK in 2024 which led to uncertainty in terms of broadcast rights for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales matches.

BBC have now stepped in to broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers involving the three aforementioned nations, plus friendlies and Scotland’s UEFA Nations League Play-Off against Greece, whilst England’s matches will be on ITV marking a return to full free-to-air TV coverage for all home nations in UK.

BBC Nations director, Rhodri Talfan Davies is “absolutely delighted” that the UK broadcaster has secured rights with all matches available on BBC1 in each nation, whilst key fixtures will also be broadcast live across BBC One nationwide – including the English region.

BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Sport app will continue to retain live international coverage, which had already been secured prior to this contract agreement.
