2024-25 FA Cup: Fifth Round – Crystal Palace vs Millwall

Crystal Palace meet South-London rivals, Millwall in a huge fifth round tie in 2024-25 FA Cup.

Victory will see Palace reach the Quarter-Finals for the first time since their run to the semi-finals in 2021-22 season, whilst Millwall haven’t progressed beyond this stage since their Quarter-Final run in 2018-19 campaign.

Team News

Palace will have midfielder, Will Hughes available despite him receiving his 10th booking of the season in their 4-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa, as his two-match suspension only applies to Premier League matches.

Marc Guehi (knee) is a doubt but Cheick Doucoure, Chadi Riad (both knee) and Joel Ward (calf) remain sidelined.

Millwall could have Joe Bryan available after he was substituted in their Championship win at Derby due to a minor cut on his foot.

Aaron Connolly, Tristian Crama and Benicio Baker-Boaitey are cup-tied due to previous involvement in this season’s competition with their former clubs.

Danny McNamara (knee) and Ryan Leonard (calf) remain ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Palace host Millwall at Selhurst Park on Saturday 1 March in a 12:15pm GMT kick-off, live on BBC One in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Palace have lost three of their last five FA Cup ties against Millwall (W2, L3), although two of their last three such ties went to a replay in which both teams took one win apiece by 2-1 results.
  • Millwall have won two of their five previous FA Cup trips away to Palace (W2, D1, L2).
  • Both teams have scored in seven of their last eight FA Cup meetings, except for a 2-0 home win for Millwall in January 1957.
  • Palace have lost one of their last five home meetings against EFL opposition in the FA Cup (W4, L1).
  • Millwall have scored five goals across their two FA Cup matches this season without conceding (W2).

Prediction

Palace’s home form had been rocky since the turn of 2025 with just one win in four games until they thumped Villa in midweek with a dominant second-half performance, which I do feel has to be a turning point because they really do have the quality to go deep as this season’s competition continues to open wider.

Millwall though on the fringes of the Championship play-off mix but have lost just one of their last nine games in all competitions, during which they often grinded out their results especially with a resilient defence.

This is the FA Cup though and with local pride at stake, I do think that Millwall will mount a decent challenge but Palace should have the quality to take a clinical win.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-0 Millwall

Result: Crystal Palace 3-1 Millwall
