2024-25 League One: Week 33 – Birmingham City vs Leyton Orient

Birmingham City host Leyton Orient in a massive League One clash in the race for promotion.

Victory will move Birmingham nine points clear of second-placed Wycombe Wanderers, whilst Leyton Orient can climb to fifth with a win if Huddersfield fail to beat Wigan.

Team News

Lyndon Dykes is unlikely to be available for Birmingham after he suffered a calf injury in their goalless draw at Reading.

Keshi Anderson (hamstring) and Scott Wright (knee) are doubts but Lee Buchanan, Marc Leonard (both knee) and Jay Stansfield (leg) remain absent.

Leyton Orient could be without Brandon Cooper after he was substituted in their 2-1 loss at Bolton with an unspecified issue.

Ollie O’Neill, Jack Simpson (both unspecified), Omar Beckles (hamstring) and Jordan Graham (knee) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Birmingham host Leyton Orient at St Andrew’s Stadium on Tuesday 25 February at 7:45pm GMT, untelevised live in the UK.

Prediction

Unbeaten in their last 16 league matches and with one goal conceded in their last five matches, Birmingham certainly come into this game as favourites after a gutsy goalless draw at Reading where they really were made to work for a deserved point.

Orient meanwhile have a poor away record at Bolton so defeat was always likely despite scoring first but this is an immediate chance to bounce back here, although they will need to be defensively resilient but clinical to make the most of their chances in a tricky away trip to another bogey ground.

Anderson and Dykes however could be pretty big losses for Birmingham on top of Stansfield’s absence in terms of attacking options, but the Blues should really have enough quality to bounce back here if others step up.

Prediction: Birmingham City 2-1 Leyton Orient

Result: Birmingham City 2-0 Leyton Orient
