2024-25 League 2: Week 32 – Port Vale vs Notts County

Port Vale host Notts County at Vale Park in a crucial clash in the 2024-25 League Two promotion race.

Victory will see Port Vale stay sixth with a win, whilst Notts County will remain in second but their deficit to current leaders – Walsall down to four points.

Team News

Jayden Stockley is a doubt for Port Vale after he suffered an injury in their 3-3 draw at Swindon.

Mitch Clark (unspecified) could also be available for selection.

Notts County could be without Jodi Jones after he was substituted in their 2-0 home win over Morecambe with a knock.

When is Kick-Off?

Port Vale host Notts County at Vale Park on Thursday 13 February at 8pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Port Vale have won one of their last five EFL meetings against Notts County (W1, D2, L2).
  • Notts County are unbeaten in four of their last six visits to Port Vale (W3, D1, L2).
  • Port Vale have conceded nine goals in their last six home matches against Notts County.
  • Jayden Stockley has scored in both of Vale’s last two league matches at home (W2).
  • Three of Notts County’s last five away goals were scored by David McGoldrick.

Prediction

Having dropped six points in their last six games despite not tasting defeat and with no clean sheet in their last five, Port Vale know that this is pretty much a must-win if want to realistically stay in touching distance of the automatic promotion spots going into the weekend.

Vale though can’t afford to be as sloppy as they were at Swindon last weekend but they did snatch a draw which could be key come end of season, especially if they can get a win here which will do them serious good if can go on a consistent winning run.

Notts County clinically dispatched Morecambe last weekend in a pretty routine result but they’ve only played away from home twice since the arrival of 2025, so this will be their toughest away test yet but they’re in excellent goalscoring form and should be favourites to win if score first,

I however can see Port Vale mounting a huge fight in what should be a close game given what is at stake for both clubs, and wouldn’t be surprised if this ends in a draw.

Prediction: Port Vale 1-1 Notts County

Result: Port Vale 1-0 Notts County
