Play-off chasing Bristol City meet Swansea in a Championship encounter at Ashton Gate.

Team News

Cam Pring is unlikely to be available for Bristol City despite resuming first-team training after a month out with a hamstring injury.

Joe Williams and Ross McCrorie are both suspended following their red cards in a 1-1 draw at Oxford United last weekend.

Ayman Benarous remains sidelined with a lengthy hamstring injury.

Swansea will be without midfielder, Joe Allen due to an ankle injury.

Loan signing, Lewis O’Brien could make his Swansea debut but Olli Cooper (fitness) is a doubt,

Harry Darling is serving the last of his three-match suspension.

When is Kick-Off?

Bristol City host Swansea at Ashton Gate on Sunday 9 February at 12pm GMT, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bristol City have lost one of their last five league meetings against Swansea (W2, D2, L1).
  • Swansea have won one of their last five league visits to Bristol City (W1, D3, L1).
  • Two of Bristol City’s last four league games at home to Swansea ended in 1-1 draws, whilst both teams won one of the other two games each by a 1-0 result.
  • Bristol City have kept clean sheets in three of their last four league games at home (W4).
  • Swansea are looking to avoid suffering five consecutive league losses for the first time since April – May 2018, which saw them suffer relegation from the Premier League at conclusion of that season.

Prediction

With one loss in their last six league matches and in strong form at home, Bristol City really need to seize this opportunity to put pressure on their play-off chasing rivals especially after grinding out a draw at Oxford Utd with nine men in a tough scrap where they defended resiliently at times.

Swansea meanwhile just look in freefall at present with one point in their last six league outings and weren’t clinical enough to beat Coventry following Matt Grimes’ exit, which has clearly impacted their midfield quality and needs to be quickly resolved if want to avoid getting sucked into the relegation scrap.

If Bristol City can now get at Swansea’s vulnerable midfield and be more clinical then I can see them nicking this, otherwise Swansea should be able to squeeze a draw out of this game.

Prediction: Bristol City 1-0 Swansea

Result: Bristol City 0-1 Swansea
