Leyton Orient seek a giant killing against Manchester City in a blockbuster Fourth Round tie in 2024-25 FA Cup.
Victory would see Leyton Orient reach the fifth round for the first time since 2010-11 season, whilst Man City look to avoid a fourth-round exit for the first time in 10 years.
Team News
Leyton Orient have no fresh injury concerns following their League One loss to Stockport last weekend.
Dan Agyei, Ollie O’Neill, Jack Simpson (all unspecified), Omar Beckles (hamstring), and Jordan Graham (knee) remain sidelined.
Man City’s new signing, Nico Gonzalez could make his debut in midfield in this match as manager, Pep Guardiola look to ring the changes, with January signings; Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Omar Marmoush also set for their FA Cup debuts.
Ederson (knock), Oscar Bobb (leg) and Ruben Dias (adductor) are doubtful for selection with Guardiola having one eye on City’s Champions League Knockout play-off against Real Madrid.
Nathan Ake (muscle), Jeremy Doku (unspecified) and Rodri (knee) remain ruled out.
When is Kick-Off?
Leyton Orient host Man City at Brisbane Road on Saturday 8 February at 12:15pm GMT, live on BBC One in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Leyton Orient lost both of their two previous FA Cup meetings against Man City.
- Man City won 6-1 on their only previous FA Cup trip to Leyton Orient in March 1926.
- City failed to keep a clean sheet in both of their two previous FA Cup meetings against Leyton Orient.
- Leyton Orient have won one of their last five FA Cup meetings against top-flight opposition (W1, D1, L3), although they did hold Arsenal to a 1-1 draw at home before losing their replay 5-0 in North London.
- Man City have won their last eight FA Cup ties away to EFL opposition (W8).
Prediction
With their unbeaten run ended by Stockport County in a tight contest last weekend, Leyton Orient must reset but fully aware that they’re underdogs at home so a hugely resilient defensive display is needed with clinical finishing.
Man City meanwhile will certainly be a much-changed line-up from the team which was humiliated at Arsenal with little second-half desire and quality aside from Erling Haaland’s brief equaliser, especially as Guardiola will view their home game against Real Madrid as rightly more important.
City though did demolish Salford in the third round amidst several changes but I do expect the Os to give them more of a battle, even if the result will be predictable.
Prediction: Leyton Orient 0-4 Man City
Result: Leyton Orient 1-2 Man City
